The work on Mist began as an Excel spreadsheet for mapping methane emissions. Over time, it became clear that Carbon Limits needed a more flexible and scalable tool, one that could make advanced emissions calculations easier for oil and gas companies to use while also supporting reporting according to the OGMP 2.0 standard. In 2020, Ur and Carbon Limits started turning Mist into a modern web application. The goal was to combine Carbon Limits' expertise in methane and emissions calculations with a user-friendly digital platform ready for continuous development.

Mist has since become an important tool for companies that want better control over their methane emissions. The platform makes it possible to build emissions inventories, assess data quality, report in line with international standards, and identify measures for emissions reduction, including estimates for cost and potential. Today, Mist is used by oil and gas companies around the world, from companies working on their first emissions inventory to companies working with detailed calculations, measurements, and OGMP 2.0 reporting. Together with Carbon Limits, Ur continues to develop Mist with new features, modules, and technical improvements.
