Arbeidsark

Complete new digital platform and website for Arbeidsark

Team Worksheet came to us in 2022 with ambitions to take its digital web application, which at the time was a simple prototype, into a full-fledged product. In addition, they wanted a floundering new website that backed up under the product and acted as an SEO-friendly and converting sales funnel.

During 2022 and 2023, we developed from scratch what is today Worksheet's digital product. It consists of the website arbeitsark.no and the application app.arbeitsark.no. This work started with branding and design, and ended with the launch of the new application.

Worksheet's new web application has gained 500 new users and has generated over 3000 worksheets for teachers around Norway.

The task

Teachers spend up to 3 hours a week finding work assignments for their students. As a rule, textbooks are inadequate and often the tasks that are readily available are outdated and impractical. Most of the solutions available on the internet sell packages of ready-made worksheets that one pays for per piece. This means that you as a teacher are put in a bind by the fact that you A) have to spend time finding the right worksheets for your students B) you have to pay more money if you need more variations because you want to customize them for your students, for example, and C) you have to change the worksheets manually if they don't fit completely.

Worksheet's solution to this problem is a generator that can generate up as many worksheets as the user himself wants. The user of Worksheets can even turn on configuration such as:

  • subjects (mathematics, Norwegian and English)
  • grade level
  • themed
  • task types
  • spreadsheets

and more.

The web application of Worksheets is available in a free version with a subscription one can purchase to gain permanent access. One pays a small sum a month to get complete access to the system, a so-called Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

When Worksheet came to Ur Solutions for assistance it had an old website, an old logo and a simple prototype of its web application. The overall task the project consisted of was thus:

  1. Create a new logo and new guidelines for the Worksheet brand.
  2. Creating a new website focused on converting new visitors into users of the web application.
  3. A new application that incorporates the worksheet generator and more supportive functionality.

Process

The project was divided into five sub-projects:

  1. Branding and logo.
  2. Design website.
  3. Design web application.
  4. Development website
  5. Development web application.

The overall process for the project can be easily described by the following diagram:

Branding and logo was a sub-project that set a precedent for the rest of the work to be done, and was thus done first. The result of this was the new logo of the Worksheet and supporting design system. The logo was created in Adobe Illustrator.

Moreover, several sub-projects were launched simultaneously. Design for both the website and web app was started. These designs were developed in Figma. The customer had continuous access to Figma and

The scope of the website was substantially smaller than the web application, and a rapid sequence of waterfall methodology was developed. The design was completed quickly, sent to customer for approval and the website was then developed in Wordpress with Uncode as the page builder.

The web app was a substantially larger project, and was developed smoothly and iteratively. The design was created in Figma in consultation with the customer, and then implemented continuously together with the customer. New functionality was tested on an ongoing basis and changes to the design were implemented as needed.
